Video Clip No. 1 - Visitors to the Cable Car Museum gallery can view and enjoy the sights and sounds of 19th century transportation technology. On display is the machinery that powers the cable car system's four (4) cables. Each cable has its own drive machinery -- a 510-horsepower DC electric motor, gears to reduce the speed of the motor to the proper cable speed of 9 1/2 miles per hour, and a set of three large pulleys called sheaves (pronounced "shivs").
