Along with the California Street propulsion gearbox rehabilitation, a portion of the slot rail was replaced as well as outdated depression beams near the corner of California at Polk St.
After chipping 10" off the top layer of cement; the rebar and bolted anchors were removed. One side of the slot rail has already been removed.
The photo below shows the empty pit left after the "off-set" depression beam was removed. The slot rails on both sides of the cable have also been cut out leaving a clear view of the cable.
Under the metal plates the old depression beam was replaced with a newer style "spring-loaded" depression beam. New rebar, brackets and slot rails were installed and now ready to fill in with high pressure cement.
